Complex problems has simple solutions, which we fail to identify or we don’t know about the simple solution. Saw this blog of Carl Richards of Behavior Gap and thought of sharing the same.
| Greetings, Carl here.
I’ve been thinking a lot about confidence. Specifically, how to protect it. Because in today’s world, our confidence is under constant attack. There’s always someone making more money than you, doing a better job, more attractive, healthier, faster, stronger, better. And with social media, you are reminded of it every time you pick up your phone. (This is so true, we constantly see people flashing about their achievement or new buys in almost all social media and if someone is not strong enough their confidence gets hurt immediately) So, how do we protect confidence? My first thought was that the answer must have something to do with resilience. That’s just a fancy word for the ability to bounce back, right? Steph Curry goes 0/15 on three-pointers. You think that affects his confidence? Heck no. He doesn’t even think twice about it, and the next night he’ll hit ten in a row. That’s because he’s resilient. So the confidence question then becomes, how do we build resilience? Here’s where it gets really interesting—and the science on this is clear. Sleep. That’s right… sleep. There’s no better way to build resilience (physically, emotionally, mentally) than a healthy sleep cycle. And while we’re at it, we can throw “exercise” and “eat healthy” into the equation as well. Sleep/Move/Eat → Resilience → Protect Confidence Could it be that the answer to many of our problems is that simple? Hit reply and let me know what you think. -Carl Carl Richards 7040 Greenfield Drive, Park City, UT 84098 |
